APPLETON, WI (WTAQ-WLUK) — A portion of College Avenue will undergo a redesign to improve community access.
Outagamie County received a $130,000 Community Connectors grant from Smart Growth America to redesign the College Avenue Corridor.
The 2.5-mile College Avenue Corridor between Mall Drive and Richmond Street, runs adjacent to a number of Fox Cities communities, including three out of Outagamie County’s five disadvantaged Justice40 communities.
The redesign project will transform the corridor’s car-centric infrastructure to better use space; improve access to commercial and employment hubs, community anchors, and residences; and prioritize equitable access and safety by building sidewalks, bike paths, and other missing infrastructure.
Outagamie County is one of 15 communities nation-wide to receive the Connect Communities grant.
