FOND DU LAC, WI (WTAQ-WLUK) — A Fond du Lac man convicted of election fraud was ordered to spend 15 days in jail and pay a $3,500 fine.
Edward Malnar, 75, pled guilty for voting in both Michigan and Wisconsin in the November 2020 election and obstructing an officer.
According to the criminal complaint, election records indicated Malnar voted by absentee ballot in Michigan. When questioned by authorities, Malnar admitted he voted in-person in Wisconsin but couldn’t recall if he voted in Michigan as well.
Malnar told investigators he spends six months in Michigan and six months in Wisconsin and his second residence is in Michigan. At the time of the November 2020 election, he had an ID in both states.
Malnar is the fifth person to be convicted of election fraud in Fond du Lac County during the November 2020 election.
Three other cases are ongoing.
