ROSENDALE, WI (WTAQ-WLUK) – A new construction project impacting the drive from the Fox Valley to Madison is set to begin on Aug. 14.
The project entails two main improvements — replacing a vehicle bridge on Highway 26 over the West Branch of the Fond du Lac River about 2 miles north of Highway 23 in the village of Rosendale, as well as replacing a steel arch pipe culvert about 4.5 miles north of the bridge, south of the Highway 26 intersection with County FF.
Other improvements will include:
- Construct new slab span concrete bridge on current alignment with parapets
- Replace roadway approaches to the structure
- Slightly raise vertical profile to promote adequate drainage
- Widen bridge structure to meet current roadway standards
- Replace beam guard
- Replace culvert in-kind with a concrete pipe
- Culvert will be at the same location and with similar profile
Highway 26 will be closed and detoured throughout construction. The detour will utilize Highway 26 south of Highway 23 to US 151 to I-41 north to Highway 26.
The project, which will cost $1.06 million, is expected to be complete at the end of October.
