Wisconsin Democrats Back Biden’s Reelection Bid

Before the convention, Senator Ron Johnson and Republican Party of Wisconsin Chairman Brian Schimming said credit for Biden isn’t deserved.

“The Democrats convention this weekend in Green Bay frankly will be a pretty desperate attempt to spin Joe Biden’s unpopular record,” said Schimming.

“A dollar that they held at the start of the Biden administration is worth about 86 cents today, and that’s hurting everybody across the economic spectrum,” says Johnson.

Democratic state representatives say they just want to ensure Wisconsin is blue.

“We focus on electing Democrats up and down the ballot, from the president all the way down to local elected races,” says State Rep. Kristina Shelton, D-90th District.

“I would love to see him continue the work that he’s doing, but I also want to see what other folks pop into the mix,” says State Rep. Lori Palmeri, D-54th District.

Some Democratic voters attending the convention say they are focused on keeping Biden in office.

“Young people will support any Democratic candidate honestly, but I think right now Joe Biden is looking like the best front runner for the party,” says College Democrats of Wisconsin Director of Communications, Evelyn Schmidt.

“I would like to see a Biden win in 2024,” says 7th District Delegate, Brady Coulthard.

“Democrats will never get serious, and unfortunately Republicans haven’t figured out how to stop them,” says Johnson.
