GREENLEAF, WI (WTAQ) — June is Dairy month; and Brown County’s Breakfast on the Farm is back for another year.
This year, the meal is put on by Collins Dairy in Greenleaf. The breakfast includes pancakes, eggs, cheese, yogurt, and more.
Stephanie Petersen with Brown County Dairy Promotions says the event is about much more than just the food.
“You get to learn about the dairy farm, how important cow comfort is, and what goes into running a dairy farm of that size as a larger operation,” said Petersen.
The event also includes a ride-along farm tour, machinery display, games, a petting zoo, and more.
While eating and paying to eat local foods is beneficial for the economy and local growers, it’s also good for the environment.
“You help keep environmental issues like pollution down, because local foods don’t travel, so it’s not like things are being shipped away,” said Petersen.
Money raised from Breakfast on the Farm goes back to the Brown County Dairy Promotions to support their educational outreach in schools and the greater Brown County community.
Adult tickets are $10, kids 5-10 are $5, and kids four and under are free. The event is on June 4 beginning at 8 a.m. at Collins Dairy in Greenleaf.
