DUNDAS, WI (WTAQ) — The ball is in someone else’s court now for the future of the Dundas Testicle Festival.
The 29th annual (and possibly the last) Testicle Festival was held in Dundas on Saturday outside the two bars that host the event; Rocky and Tara’s Nut Huas and Two of a Kind.
The event features all you can eat deep fried bull testicles (with the price of $10 admission), drinks, food trucks, live music, and more.
Rocky and Tara’s Nut Huas and Two of a Kind have co-organized the popular event for 10 years, although the tradition dates back to 1994.
Tara Erickson is one of the owners of Rocky and Tara’s Nut House, and says she’s selling her business and the owner of the other bar, Two of a Kind, isn’t willing to go it alone.
“You build a lot of trust as business partners to do an event like this,” Erickson told WTAQ. “So when I go… there’s a large bond of trust broken. She said to me that she couldn’t trust anyone [else] to run the event.”
Two of a Kind also cited space concerns at their bar.
“We put in a lot of blood, sweat, and tears for the hard work over the years,” said Erickson. “I’m sad, but I’m happy. It’s a blessing in disguise.”
However, the two co-organizers say this leaves open the opportunity for someone else to come in and pick up where they left off.
They just have to have the stones.
“I hope it’s not the last one, but it’s the last one for me,” said Erickson. “It’s successful. Why not [continue it]?”
On Saturday, about 300 pounds of bull testicle was consumed by attendees; most of which agreed it tastes like chicken.
