ST CROIX CO, WI (WTAQ-WRN) – St. Croix County Sheriff’s Deputy Kaitie Leising was shot and killed on Saturday.
The State Justice Department says Leising took a call of a possible drunk driver in the ditch near Glenwood City at 6:15 on Saturday.
Thirty-four-year-old Jeremiah D. Johnson refused Leising’s demands to take a field sobriety test for nearly ten minutes before taking out a handgun and shooting her.
Leising died at a hospital and Johnson was found dead in a wooded area with a gunshot wound.
Sheriff Scott Knudson said 29-year-old Leising began serving with the department last year.
