CRIVITZ, WI (WTAQ-WLUK) — A traveling tribute to Vietnam veterans will be making a stop in Marinette County.
“The Wall that Heals,” a 3/4 scale replica of the Vietnam Veterans Memorial, is returning to Crivitz and will be on display at the Crivitz Museum grounds from June 1-4, 2023.
Crivitz is one of 31 communities to host The Wall as it travels across the nation, offering a local opportunity to honor the more than 58,000 men and women who made the ultimate sacrifice in Vietnam.
In addition to the memorial, the Crivitz The Wall That Heals Education Committee is curating a number of displays that will feature information on the Vietnam War, memorabilia and stories from area residents. The committee is currently seeking stories to be added to a virtual display as well as physical items for the exhibit.
“We strongly encourage people from Northeast Wisconsin to share their stories with us as part of an interactive educational display,” said Katie Deschane, Chair of the Educational Committee. “These displays will help us bring history home, showing the numerous local connections to the Vietnam War and national memorial.”
Stories are requested by May 24, 2023. They can be shared via email to kdeschane@vocwi.com or people may call Katie at (715) 927-0241 to tell their story.
