SHIOCTON, WI (WTAQ-WLUK) — Some rivers in Northeast Wisconsin are above flood stage as a result of this week’s rains and melting snow.
Rising water levels are causing the Outagamie County Sheriff’s Office to issue a “no wake declaration” for the Wolf River.
“We take a reading every day and today it was at 12.10 and flood stage is at 12,” said Dan Nabbefeld, water operator for the village and fire chief of Shiocton Fire Department.
He says the river is expected to hit 13.2 feet by Saturday, 0.3 feet away from moderate flood stage.
“We do have some people looking for sandbags at the moment,” said Nabbefeld. “We are going to be making a whole bunch of pallets tonight.”
