ALGOMA, WI (WTAQ-WLUK) – Businesses in Kewaunee County are preparing to host cruise visitors for the next two summers – and are working to maximize the hospitality and the profits from the stops.
The Viking Polaris and Viking Octantis ships are booked to make eight stops both this year and next. The ship will moor off shore, with the chance for passengers to ferry to shore for excursions.
This summer’s scheduled stops are June 16 & 29, July 14 & 27, August 10 & 23, Sept. 4 & 17. Algoma is the only Wisconsin stop listed on the 15-day cruise between Duluth and Toronto.
On Thursday, the Kewaunee County Economic Development Corp. hosted a panel of experts who shared their knowledge on how businesses and residents can prepare for the visits.
In 2022, a different tour company’s “Ocean Navigator” stopped in Green Bay during two Great Lakes cruises.
