MENOMINEE, MI (WTAQ-WLUK) – The return to classroom date has been delayed again for some Menominee, Michigan students.
The Menominee middle and high school building was flooded in August and since then, crews have been working to make the necessary repairs.
It was expected for students to return the week of January 17th but an environmental test showed the building is not yet safe.
The district says it will continue with cleaning work and testing and expect to have more information sometime next week.
“Safely returning our students and staff to face-to-face instruction remains our top priority,” the district wrote in a letter to parents.
Since the beginning of the school year, high school students have been learning virtually, while middle school students attend in-person classes at Blesch Intermediate School.
