APPLETON, WI (WTAQ-WLUK) – Excitement for Halloween is still going strong.
Kids and adults of all ages walked around Appleton neighborhoods last night to enjoy a once a year tradition. they tell FOX 11 a number of different reasons brought them out.
“I just show up for the candy,” one boy said.
“It’s a lot of fun to like dress up, go around and see everyone else’s costumes,” a girl said.
“That I get to spend time with others and see other people,” a different girl said.
No matter what the age of the participants, there’s something for just about everyone to enjoy on Oct. 31.
“We get to have candy and we get to have fun,” two girls said.
But it’s not just kids who enjoy the day. Parents and homeowners get into the spirit of the holiday and dress up and participate too.
“Seeing all the kids outside, all the costumes,” Appleton homeowner Becky Murphy said. “Everybody just enjoying the day.”
Murphy believes there are no limits to who can enjoy Halloween.
“I enjoy seeing everyone, absolutely,” Murphy said.
Just a few blocks away, homeowner Linn Wilson is also celebrating accordingly. She looks forward to Halloween every year.
“Just seeing all the kids so happy and getting candy,” Wilson said, “especially this year when we get such great weather.”
Wilson said there’s nothing not to like, which is why she dresses up and participates herself.
“There’s nothing not fun about it. It’s just all in fun,” Wilson said.
She says anyone willing to go out and have fun should be able to.
“If you’re old enough — even if you don’t have a costume on — if you’re willing to go out, then have at it,” Wilson said.
Although most, including parents, did dress up.
And there were a variety of creative outfits shown off in a year where no one costume dominated the rest.
Most trick-or-treaters took advantage of the limited time to go door to door, staying out until the end time designated by the city.
