MILWAUKEE, WI (WTAQ) – The Milwaukee Brewers have announced President of Baseball Operations David Stearns is stepping down but will remain with the club in an advisory role to owner Mark Attanasio.
General Manager Matt Arnold will be promoted to Baseball Operations President.
Stearns joined the Brewers in 2015, replacing Doug Melvin as General Manager. He helped develop the Brewers into a playoff level club, reaching the post-season a franchise record four straight years between 2018 and 2021 with a pair of National League Central Division titles.
Milwaukee slipped this year and missed the playoffs by one game.
Stearns was promoted to President of Baseball Operations in 2019 when Arnold was given the GM role. The Brewers plan a news conference Thursday at American Family Field to detail the moves and explain the new roles moving forward.
