GREEN BAY, WI (WTAQ-WLUK) – The Green Bay Area Public School District interim superintendent is in the hospital after suffering a heart attack during a school board meeting Monday night.
First responders were called as a precautionary measure for Vicki Bayer during a special school board meeting.
When paramedics arrived, they decided that Bayer should be taken to the hospital for evaluation.
Families and staff were notified Monday night via email at about 8:15 p.m.
Bayer took over the superintendent position in April after Stephen Murley retired, citing health concerns. Last month, Bayer told FOX 11 that she was undecided about whether to seek the job on a permanent basis.
On Tuesday afternoon, district officials confirmed that Bayer suffered a heart attack and is recovering under the care of her doctors.
The district says it will provide an update when more information becomes available.
