OSHKOSH, WI (WTAQ-WLUK) — The teen who allegedly stabbed a West High School police liaison officer is now scheduled to stand trial Jan. 23.
Grant Fuhrman, 19, is charged with one count of attempted first-degree intentional homicide for the Dec. 3, 2019 incident. Prosecutors say Officer Mike Wissink shot Fuhrman after Fuhrman stabbed him. Students and staff evacuated, and classes were canceled for two days.
His trial was scheduled to start May 31, but was postponed in the wake of the school shooting in Uvalde, Texas. Fuhrman’s attorney argued a fair trial could not be held “until the decibel level regarding school shooting has been diminished.” The judge agreed, and the trial was postponed.
In court Tuesday, the three-week trial was scheduled.
