NIAGARA, WI (WTAQ-WLUC) – Two people were seriously injured in an explosion at their mobile home Sunday morning.
The explosion was reported around 8:50 a.m. at Payette Road and Bomber Road.
Many people several miles away heard the explosion.
At the time of the explosion, a man and a woman in their 50s from the Milwaukee area were inside the mobile home.
The couple was taken to Dickinson County Memorial Hospital in Iron Mountain for serious injuries including severe burns, and were later taken to a different hospital in Wisconsin.
Responders talked to the man, who said he was attempting to light the propane furnace that had gone out.
The mobile home was a total loss, and the garage was severely damaged along with its contents.
The investigation is ongoing, but police say that foul play is not suspected.
