APPLETON, WI (WTAQ-WLUK) – A fire on Appleton’s south side Wednesday caused an estimated $130,000 in damage to a house, firefighters say.
The Appleton Fire Department says crews were called to the 2600 block of S. Kernan Avenue around 12:15 p.m. when a passerby reported seeing smoke.
When firefighters arrived, they found a fire in the kitchen. It took about 15 minutes to get it under control.
No one was home, but a dog was in the house. The dog was rescued and did not appear to be injured, the fire department says.
Firefighters say it appears the fire was a result of combustible objects being stored on a glass-top stove.
Two adults and two children, along with the dog, were displaced.
