APPLETON, WI (WTAQ-WLUK) — A school in Appleton is closed today due to a water leak caused damage to the building.
School officials say around 11 a.m. Tuesday, water leaked from a second-floor bathroom at Columbus Elementary School. Students and staff members were moved to a church across the street, where they ate their lunches.
The school district says it is working to figure out what caused the leak.
Because of what district leaders called extensive flooding and damage to walls, ceilings and classrooms, students were sent home with parents instead of returning to the building.
