APPLETON, WI (WTAQ-WLUK) – An area technical college is working to make Wisconsin’s waterways safer.
Northeast Wisconsin Technical College hosted 18 officers from around the state for a new boat patrol training course on the Fox River. It’s the first training course of its kind offered in the state.
Jason Weber, Northeast Wisconsin Technical College public safety training coordinator, tells FOX 11 having the class out on the water is extremely important to help build real world skills.
“It’s really getting them prepared for the summer season, and, uh, doing different types of rescue work, different types of docking the boat, just kinda honing those skills and those types of tactics and preventative measures.”
A second class will be held later in the summer.
