GREEN BAY, WI (WTAQ) — The process of selecting Green Bay’s next police chief is well underway.
Members of the city’s Police and Fire Commission this week interviewed six candidates who made it through the first round of cuts.
“I think the process is going well,” Rod Goldhahn, the Police and Fire Commission’s Chairman, told WTAQ. “I think we have very good candidates, and I look forward to the more in-depth interviews before making our final choice.”
In all, 21 candidates from across the country applied for the position. The finalists will be selected soon.
“Probably sometime next month,” Goldhahn said. “In order to get through the information and allow people to make travel reservations.”
The finalists will be publicly announced. The new chief will replace Andrew Smith, who retired last month.
