WRIGHTSTOWN, WI (WTAQ-WLUK) – Work is beginning at Wrightstown Community School District to renovate and make additions to its elementary and middle schools.
A groundbreaking ceremony was held Wednesday.
The construction will add nine new classrooms, school and district offices, a new gym and small group learning spaces. It will also change parking and traffic patterns around the school.
Teachers tell FOX 11 it’s a necessary upgrade.
“At this point, we’re out of room,” Wrightstown Elementary School Principal Sarah Nelson said.
“We have teachers teaching in closets. I personally am now in a closet due to the construction. And we don’t have enough classroom space to keep our class sizes the sizes we want.”
This comes after more than 12 months of research, a referendum and a community-wide survey.
Construction is expected to be finished by August of next year.
