GREEN BAY, WI (WTAQ) – Former President Donald Trump was acquitted of charges in an impeachment trial once again over the weekend, so where do we go from here?
Wisconsin Republican Senator Ron Johnson says despite what he calls another divisive and questionable impeachment trial, the best way to move forward is together.
“It starts with the shared goal and shared purpose that Americans do share. We love this country. We want to see it’s safe and secure and prosperous. We want opportunity for every American, so they can raise their children in safety and prosperity,” Johnson said on WTAQ’s The Regular Joe Show. “Start there. We share the same goal. Okay, now what are the things that are preventing us from achieving that goal? What threats are there to our security?”
And the best way to do that, Johnson says, is by focusing not on the differences between parties or even differing opinions within each party, but by looking at what unites the American people.
“Focusing on the areas of agreement, as opposed to what the Democrats do in exploiting the divisions,” Johnson said. “It’s what I’ve always said since I entered the public realm, and what I did in the private sector, is focus on the areas of agreement.”
