APPLETON, WI (WTAQ-WLUK) – A 13-year-old charged in adult court with attempted homicide was ordered Friday to stand trial.
Jamariha Shipp is charged with attempted first-degree intentional homicide and attempted armed robbery for the Aug. 25 incident in Grand Chute. No arraignment date was scheduled.
In Wisconsin, children ages 10 and older are charged in adult court for homicide and attempted homicide cases. At a later stage of the case, the defense can seek to have the case moved to juvenile court.
A Grand Chute police detective testified at Friday’s preliminary hearing.
Also charged in the case are Dequan Pearson, 17, and Jayshawn Jones, 18.
According to the criminal complaints, Shipp and Pearson met for a drug deal on Timmers Lane. Each blamed the other for initiating a robbery and for shooting first, but both admitted to firing shots at the scene.
