ASHWAUBENON, WI (WTAQ) — A highly-anticipated grand opening is still planned for a new Ashwaubenon business.
The new Dave & Busters location in the Bay Park Square Mall was supposed to open back in May. The sign on the wall of the future entrance to the restaurant and arcade franchise at the Bay Park Square Mall still reads “Dave & Busters, opening May 2020”. The Coronavirus pandemic shut down those plans, but officials are still aiming to open it this year.
“The planned opening has been moved from May to October,” Ashwaubenon Community Development Director Aaron Schuette told WTAQ on Wednesday. “But like everything right now, it’s fluid. It’s a strange time to open a business.”
A high-touch business like Dave & Busters creates a particular challenge during the ongoing pandemic, however other locations in Wisconsin have opened with restrictions and extra sanitation procedures in place.
“When it comes to businesses, they want to have certainty, and unfortunately, [the pandemic] is just one more variable,” Schuette said.
Construction on the new business is almost complete.
