It was a long day on and off the diamond for the Milwaukee Brewers Wednesday. The worst news came after a 15-4 drubbing at the hands of the Chicago White Sox when it was learned All-Star closer and two time reliever of the year Devin Williams is going to get shut down for a while with a pair of small stress fractures in his back. Williams experience soreness late last season and hoped the winter would take care of the problem. After experiencing more pain this spring, an exam revealed the fractures that will need time to heal on their own. Williams is expected to miss up to three months of the season. On the diamond, Chicago piled up 21 hits in the blowout victory. Starting pitcher Bryse Wilson gave up 12 hits and 9 runs in his three innings of work. The only highlight for the Crew was Brewer Hicklin delivering a two run homer. Milwaukee is 7-12 in Cactus League play and they’ll take on the Seattle Mariners in Maryvale Thursday afternoon.
