GREEN BAY, WI (WTAQ) - A cell tower is closer to being constructed by a Green Bay church.
That's despite concerns from neighbors.
This weekend, parishioners at St. Joseph Church on 12th Avenue voted to approve a deal with AT&T to build a steeple on the back of the church and hide a cell tower inside that structure.
AT&T would pay for the construction costs, along with making monthly payments to the church.
Area neighbors protested last month, saying the cell tower could cause health issues and bring down property values.
Church members were made aware of the concerns and then voted to proceed with the plan. The diocese has final approval of the deal.
Then it’s up to AT&T to secure the appropriate local and state permits.
