It wasn't going to be easy anyway but the Green Bay Phoenix were dealt a tough blow before the start of their first appearance in the NIT in 22 years.  Horizon League player of the year Kiefer Sykes was a late scratch because of lingering ankle and knee injuries and the Belmont Bruins were able to take advantage of his abscence with an 80-65 victory at the Resch Center Tuesday night.  The Phoenix offense struggled to find a rythm committing a season high 21 turnovers.   Belmont opened up a 12 point lead at intermission and while Green Bay was able to creep within five in the second half, the Bruins nailed 4 three point shots over the final 10 minutes to put the game away.  Craig Bradshaw led Belmont (25-9) with 25 points.  The Bruins went 10 of 27 from beyond the arc.   Greg Mays was the top scorer for Green Bay with 15, freshman Kenneth Lowe contributed a career high 12.  In his final game for the Phoenix, 7-1 senior center Alec Brown struggled with 9 points on 3 of 10 shooting from the floor. The Horizon League regular season champions finished the year with a record of 24-7.
