UPDATE: West Allis man arrested in connection with discovery of two bodies in suitcases

WEST ALLIS, WI (WTAQ) - One of two women found dead in suitcases near Lake Geneva was likely killed at a Microtel Inn in Rochester Minnesota.

That's what police in that southeast Minnesota city said Thursday.

Officials said the suspect, 52-year-old Steven Zelich of suburban Milwaukee, checked into the Microtel last November 2nd with 37-year-old Laura Simonson of Farmington Minnesota. Zelich reportedly checked out the next day without Simonson -- and she was reported by missing by her family three weeks later.

Now, authorities in Walworth County said Simonson and another female were found dead in separate suitcases three weeks ago, where a highway crew was cutting grass. Zelich was arrested Wednesday, after evidence was seized from his apartment in West Allis.

Rochester Police Captain John Sherwin says Zelich has confessed to being involved in Simonson's death -- and the other victim appeared to have been killed in Wisconsin. Authorities said they learned the identity of that victim Thursday.

Various media reports said Zelich was a former West Allis police officer who was later linked to a Web site about sex slavery -- and he reportedly tortured and enslaved Simonson.
