MADISON, WI (WTAQ) - The dire propane shortage in the state is prompting Governor Scott Walker to ask President Barack Obama for help.

Governor Walker sent a letter to the White House Saturday, urging the President to establish and lead a supply chain working group to move available propane to areas where it’s needed.

In a statement, Governor Walker says the federal government has been cooperative with assisting so far and is proposing the working group as a follow up.

In addition to the shortage, experts say demand, weather and temporary pipeline closures is to blame for the short supply of propane across the Midwest, including Wisconsin.
