Little Chute woman critically hurt after being hit by SUV

LITTLE CHUTE, WI (WTAQ) - A crash involving an SUV and a pedestrian Tuesday morning sends a woman to the hospital.

Fox Valley Metro police say it happened at the intersection of North Avenue (County Road OO) and Freedom Road just after 7 a.m.

A 71-year-old Little Chute woman was rushed to the hospital with serious head injuries and is listed in critical condition.

Police say the driver of the SUV, a 53-year-old Appleton man, is cooperating with the investigation and no charges are expected to be filed.

According to the State Patrol, the driver was stopped at a red light. When the light turned green, he started out and crashed into the woman, who was trying to quickly cross the road against the red light.

Police say alcohol is not believed to be a factor.
