Pac-12 reprimands officials for ending to Wisconsin-Arizona St. game

TEMPE, AZ (WTAQ) - The Pacific-12 Conference Monday reprimanded the officials for their lack of action at the end of Saturday night's Wisconsin football loss at Arizona State.

A Pac-12 crew worked that game, in which the Badgers lost 32-30.

Wisconsin quarterback Joel Stave awkwardly took a knee on the ASU 15-yard line with 15 seconds left. A Sun Devil defender then sat on the ball while the clock kept running, and the Badgers never had time to pull off another play.

Wisconsin wanted to get kicker Kyle French on the field for a game-winning field goal, but couldn't.

Pac-12 Commissioner Larry Scott said it was an unusual situation to end the game. He said the officials, "fell short of the high standard in which Pac-12 games should be managed. We will continue to work with all our officials to ensure this type of situation never occurs again."

Badgers' coach Gary Andersen said Monday he wanted accountability, and to let the players finish games and be the deciding factor.

Andersen had no apologies for the way his team ran the play. He said everybody did what they were taught to do -- and they'd do it the same way again if they have the chance.
