ASHWAUBENON, WI (WTAQ) - Ashwaubenon Public Safety will hold a special prescription drug take-back event Saturday from 10 a.m. until 2 p.m.
Officials say people can bring in their expired, unwanted and unused prescription drugs to the Public Safety Office Building, 2155 Holmgren Way.
"We don't want it lying around the house for someone to help themselves to so they use them in a way it's not meant to be used," says Ashwaubenon Public Safety Cmdr. Tom Rolling. "We also don't want people just to discard them down the toilet or in the garbage because it can ruin our environment."
Rolling says the service is free and anonymous. They won't be accepting Sharps containers, syringes or inhalers.
This past April, Wisconsin residents dropped off nearly 23 tons of prescription drugs at 180 collection sites statewide.
"I think the more the word gets out there that there is a place to discard this, the better off we are and we're all in this together," says Rolling.
