OSHKOSH, WI (WTAQ) - Police in Oshkosh need your helping finding a burglar who stole nearly $10,000 in jewelry.
Authorities say it happened during the day on October 4 at 1798 Hunters Glen Drive.
Officer Joe Nichols says investigators feel it was a targeted crime.
"The perpetrator knew exactly where the jewelry was as this area was the only place disturbed in the home," says Nichols. "They (the Jirschele family) are pretty sure that somebody who had already been inside the house knew the items were there."
The jewelry was taken out in a blue and white Oshkosh West Cross Country duffel bag. Items included rings, necklaces and bracelets.
"The majority of the jewelry belonged to Ali, and it has great sentimental value to the family," says Nichols.
Ali died in August of 2013.
Investigators say entry to the home was made through an unlocked door. They're alerting the public now because authorities are in need of tips.
"They (detectives) take a list of possible persons that may have taken and work off that list," says Nichols. "They keep working on leads until they pretty much run into a dead end, and that's where the police department is at now."
If anyone has information about this incident, they are asked to contact Detective Hinke at the Oshkosh Police Department at (920) 236-5703.
