APPLETON, WI (WTAQ) - A Lamers school bus driver for Appleton schools was arrested for drunk driving Friday morning.
After finishing his route involving four elementary schools, the 51-year-old driver was seen buying beer and cigarettes at a Walgreens store. A witness says they saw the driver drinking on the bus.
It was around 9 a.m. when the driver failed field sobriety tests administered by police officers.
Appleton Public School District Superintendent Lee Allinger says they notified parents of about 25 kids who were on the bus about the situation by phone. A school aid present on the bus did not notice anything out of the ordinary.
It’s not known if the bus driver had been drinking prior to the Friday morning route.
