DE PERE, WI (WTAQ) - De Pere police say an officer suffered minor injuries after being bitten by a dog Tuesday.
Authorities released a statement saying it happened at the dog park at 1400 Biotech Way just before 7 a.m.
Police say the officer noticed a suspicious car that looked as if it was parked overnight and went looking for the owner.
While walking on a trail in the park, police say the officer was confronted by an aggressive dog. As the officer tried to distance himself, a second dog bit the officer.
Police say when the second dog jumped near the officer’s face, he fired his gun grazing the dog’s cheek. Both dogs then ran away.
The owner of the dogs was located in the park. No one else was in the park at the time.
The officer had a bite injury to his ankle. The dog that bit him was taken to a veterinarian by the owner for treatment for the graze wound.
