(WNFL) - U-W Milwaukee senior Rachel Neuberger has been named the Horizon League’s volleyball player-of-the-year – and the Panthers’ Susie Johnson is the coach-of-the-year. Shannon Hurley of U-W Green Bay is the freshman-of-the-year. Jenna Cavanaugh of Youngstown State received defensive season accolades. The awards were chosen by the conference coaches. Neuberger was the only player to rank in the Top-Five for both hitting percentage and kills per set. Her coach, Johnson, led Milwaukee to its third Horizon regular season title in four years. She’s now been named coach-of-the-year five times. Hurley helped lead Green Bay with a league-high three-point-three-four kills per set. Neuberger also made the all-conference team along with teammates Kayla Price and Julie Kolinske. Three Green Bay players made the all-conference squad – Emily Riese, Jillian Bauer, and Leah Van Zeeland. Hurley made the All-Horizon Freshman team along with Milwaukee’s Myanna Ruiz.
