Tigers Roughed Up by Rangers, Losing 7-2.

Tigers starting pitcher Anibal Sanchez was roughed up by the Rangers Saturday night, pitching only 2 2/3 innings in the Tigers' 7-2 loss to the Rangers at the Ballpark in Arlington Saturday night. It was the third-shortest start of his career and shortest outing since Aug. 10, 2011.  The Tigers, who entered Saturday tied with the Indians for the division lead, have lost three of their last four games and seven of their last 11. The Tigers now trail the Cleveland Indians by one game in the AL Central. They'll look to split the series with the Rangers tonight.  Hear the game on 1450 WHTC at 7:40 P.M.

Hit Fest in Anaheim, White Sox Lose to Angels 12-9

Los Angeles' five-run seventh inning, and the Angels beat the White Sox 12-9 on Saturday to end Chicago's four-game winning streak.  Hector Gimenez had four hits and three RBIs for the White Sox, who allowed only 10 runs during their winning streak. Paul Konerko and Alexei Ramirez had three hits apiece.  The White Sox play the LA Angels this afternoon

Cubs Bounce the Mets 8-2 at Wrigley

Scott Feldman pitched shutout ball into the seventh inning and drove in two runs with a big two-out double, helping the Chicago Cubs beat the New York Mets 8-2 on Saturday.  The Cubs have won five of seven and can win three straight series for the first time with a victory on Sunday.  The Cubs take on the Mets again this afternoon

Whitecaps jump on Bowling Green early for 8-1 win

The West Michigan Whitecaps third baseman Mario Martinez made two outs and assisted on five other plays on Saturday night in a 8-1 win over the Bowling Green Hot Rods in front of a season-high 8,714 fans at Fifth Third Ballpark.  Jeff Holm crushed a home run to centerfield in front of the Pepsi Stadium Club for his team-leading fifth home run of the season.  The Whitecaps (18-21) win the second game of a five-game home stand with Bowling Green. The two teams play a doubleheader today, beginning at 1 p.m. on 1450 WHTC.

Red Wings Fight Back, Take the Blackhawks Down, 4-1

In case they weren't aware already, the Chicago Blackhawks now know they're going to have to earn it if they want to get past Detroit.

The Red Wings hammered home that message on Saturday.

Damien Brunner and Brendan Smith scored in the second period and Detroit beat the Blackhawks 4-1 in Game 2 to even their Western Conference semifinal series.  Game 3 is Monday night in Detroit.

Griffins Head Back to Toronto for Game 5, Losing to Toronto Saturday Night, 4-1

The conference semifinals will return to Ontario’s capital city for at least Game 6, thanks to a 4-1 victory over the Grand Rapids Griffins on Saturday at Van Andel Arena.  The Griffins, who had won two straight in this series and three straight playoff games overall on home ice, were victimized by their own special teams play. Grand Rapids went 0-for-5 on the power play, including a pair of two-man advantages in the second period, while surrendering two goals during Toronto’s seven chances.  Game 6 is set for Tuesday at 7 p.m.
