Investigator's report on UWGB coach Brian Wardle turned over to school

GREEN BAY, WI (WTAQ) - Officials at the University of Wisconsin-Green Bay have received an investigator's report into allegations of abuse against men's basketball coach Brian Wardle.

The investigation involved allegations of verbal and emotional abuse by Wardle. The investigation began last month, led by local attorney Joe Nicks.

The mother of former UWGB Phoenix player Ryan Bross sent a letter to the school, which sparked the investigation. A second parent, the mother of former forward Brennan Cougill, also sent a letter upset about Wardle's coaching.

According to the school, Chancellor Tom Harden said Wednesday that the University will publicly release the investigator’s report as soon as it is legally permissible to do so.

Because the allegations arise out of Wardle’s employment at the University, the Wisconsin Public Records law requires the institution to provide a notification to him that the report will be publicly released.

Wardle has up to 10 days to review his copy of the report and challenge whether all or part of the document should be released.

Before the report and any decision are released to the public, Harden is planning to meet with Wardle.

The Chancellor said the University will have no further comment until the report is made public.
