Life as a mid-major in college basketball always isn't fair. The Green Bay Phoenix women, ranked 20th in the country, winners of 29 of 31 games including their last 24 in a row, could do no better than a number 11 seed in the eyes of the NCAA Womens Tournament selection committee Monday night. Only five womens teams have a better record on the year and Green Bay was the only team in the top 20 to receive a double digit seed. Making matters even more difficult, the Phoenix will have to play 6th seeded LSU, on the Lady Tigers home floor in Baton Rouge on Sunday night. The game will tip off at 6:30 PM at the Maravich Center. This isn't the first time Green Bay has had to deal with the NCAA's bracket. Last year, Green Bay was the 7 seed and opened by playing Iowa State on their home floor. In 2009, Green Bay traveled to LSU in the same senario, 11 vs 6 and the Lady Tigers advanced with a 69-59 victory.
