TOWN OF LAWRENCE, WI (WTAQ) - An elderly Appleton man is dead after his vehicle went off Highway 41 and stuck a tree on Sunday. 

The crash happened around 10:15 a.m. in the Town of Lawrence along southbound 41 near Highway S. 

The Hobart-Lawrence Police Department says 70-year-old Donald Libergen left the highway, went into the ditch and then drove through a fence before slamming into a tree. 

Police Chief Randy Bani tells FOX 11 that the driver never hit the brakes, which suggests something may have happened prior to the accident.
