Packers don't tag Jennings

After seven years in a Green Bay Packers uniform, wide receiver Geg Jennings will become an unrestricted free agent next week.  The Packers declined to place the franchise tag on the three time Pro Bowler on Monday's deadline.   Tagging Jennings would have guaranteed him a 10.5 million dollar contract for 2013.  The Packers are currently 22 million under the cap and General Manager Ted Thompson may need a chunk of that to offer contract extensions to the likes of B.J. Raji and Clay Matthews, not to mention a mega-deal for quarterback Aaron Rodgers.   Jennings will hit the open market on March 12, seeking a deal in the neighborhood of 12 to 14 million dollars a year which would have him rank third among all NFL receivers behind Calvin Johnson and Larry Fitzgerald.  Jennings has 425 career receptions and 53 touchdowns for the Packers.
