MANITOWOC, WI (WTAQ) - Manitowoc County sheriff's say a man and woman were arrested following a chase and crash Tuesday.
Authorities say it happened just before 4 a.m. on Interstate 43 just south of Highway Z in the Town of Cooperstown.
A deputy tried to pull over a car due to a suspended registration.
Instead of pulling over, the driver sped up. Traveling north on I-43, the chase reached speeds of 130 miles per hour.
The car took the Denmark exit, but was traveling too fast to make a turn onto Highway KB. The car went over a curb, ending up in a ditch. The car’s front end and undercarriage were damaged, and it could not be driven.
A passenger got out and ran away. Using police dogs, deputies tracked her down and arrested her. The driver got out and was arrested as well.
The driver was identified as a 29-year-old man whose last known address was in Green Bay. The passenger was a 25-year-old woman, also from Green Bay.
The two are being held in the Manitowoc County Jail on unrelated warrants.
