Report: MLB seeks to suspend Ryan Braun for connection to drug clinic

MILWAUKEE (WTAQ) - Major League Baseball is reportedly preparing to suspend Ryan Braun and nearly 20 other players for denying the use of performance-enhancing drugs in connection to a Miami clinic.

ESPN’s “Outside the Lines” reports two sources tell them that Tony Bosch, the owner of the now-closed Biogensis of America, reached an agreement to cooperate with the MLB investigation.

ESPN also says a source close to the commissioner’s office says they might seek a 100-game suspension for all the players connected to the clinic.

In April, a new document was made public which indicated closer ties between Braun and the clinic.

“Outside the Lines” revealed a handwritten list of four players, including the 2011 MVP, purportedly written by clinic founder Bosch last April. The list had the number $1,500 beside it.

Braun was facing a 50-game suspension for a positive test that took place in October of 2011 for elevated levels of testosterone.

In February of 2012, Braun became the first major-league player to have a positive drug test overturned.

Some claiming he won on a technicality, Braun argued that his samples collected on a Saturday were not sent the same-day, thus in violation of MLB testing policy.

The tester claimed there was no FedEx store open at the time, so he kept the samples in a refrigerator until Monday, when they were sent out.
