Some comparing Ryan Braun to Lance Armstrong

MILWAUKEE (WTAQ) - Is Ryan Braun the “Lance Armstrong of Baseball?”

Some people have compared the Milwaukee slugger to the disgraced cyclist, who had to give up his seven Tour de France titles after he followed years of denials with an admission that he took performance-enhancing drugs.

Braun spent almost two years denying that he took PED’s before baseball investigators reportedly caught him using a, “sophisticated doping regimen.”

Monday, Braun became the first player named in the BioGenesis PED scandal to accept a suspension of 65 games.

ESPN’s Buster Olney said Armstrong called people he hurt to apologize, before coming clean to Oprah Winfrey on TV. Olney says Braun should do the same, and not let his written blanket apology stand by itself.

Olney also says Braun should also apologize to the Arizona Diamondbacks, for being juiced while helping the Brewers win their 2011 National League Division Series – Milwaukee’s first playoff series win since 1982.

Braun almost belted a homer completely out of Miller Park in Game Two, and he batted .500 in that series with four RBI’s.

Milwaukee won the series in the full five games, including a 10 inning thriller in Game 5. Olney says some Arizona players still feel cheated by losing that series.
