Howard apartment complex damaged by fire

HOWARD, WI (WTAQ) - A fire at an apartment complex in Howard puts dozens of people out of their homes Saturday.

It happened at Northern Pines Apartments on Memorial Drive just after 4:30 p.m.

The blaze was isolated to one building in the complex. No one was hurt, acccording to the Brown County Sheriff's Department.

No word yet on what may have caused the fire.

"I looked up and there was just a little tip at the apex of the house, just a little flame shooting through,” Howard Young told FOX 11.

Young and his wife had moved into Northern Pines Apartments just three hours before the second floor of his building went up in flames.

"Within three or four minutes there was a flame running down the backbone of the house on the roof,” said Young.

"When we arrived we found the second floor of the apartment building, it's a two story 24 unity building, with flames and we were able to make sure everyone was evacuated,” said Sgt. Greg Tilly of the Brown County Sheriff’s Department.

The Red Cross was on scene assisting fire victims with immediate needs, including lodging, food, clothing and medication.
