GREEN BAY, WI (WTAQ) - A Preble High School student has learned his fate after being convicted in a fatal hit-and-run crash.

18-year-old Felix Ruiz was sentenced to three-and-a-half years in prison, along with three-and-a-half years of extended supervision Friday.

In July, investigators say Ruiz struck and killed 52-year-old Daryl Wayka on Main Street. After the crash, Ruiz's brother drove him to Milwaukee to take a bus to Mexico.

Ruiz returned, but did not turn himself in. Police eventually found Ruiz hiding in a closet at a friend's house in Howard.
