MADISON, WI (WSAU) - We’re getting a few more details about what Governor Scott Walker plans to include in the upcoming budget package.
The Governor announced yesterday a plan to put almost 100-million dollars into developing the state’s workforce. The money would go towards equipping workers with new skills for the modern workforce. There would also be a new Office of Skills Development to help in that process, and worker training grants available.
There would also be a new apprenticeship program and new performance-based state aid to technical colleges. Steps would also be taken to make education and credits as flexible as possible, and to help veterans with changes to the GI Bill provisions. Expect the Governor to introduce legislation prior to his budget speech next week.
Governor Scott Walker’s Sunday press release outlines some of the programs.
