CHILTON, WI (WTAQ) - A plea deal has been reached with the suspect in a stabbing at Darboy Community Park last summer.
18-year-old Devon Helmrath stabbed a 73-year-old man who was out for a walk. Cops say Helmrath asked him to help find a cell phone. Officials say Helmrath stabbed the man in the back when they walked into the woods.
The victims survived and was able to call police. He recovered from his injuries.
The charge of attempted first-degree intentional homicide was reduced to first-degree reckless endangering safety at a hearing Monday in Calumet County court. No sentencing date was set.
