Neenah police officer arrests driver for OWI after getting hit from behind

NEENAH, WI (WTAQ) - A Neenah Police officer didn’t have to look far for a drunk driver early Saturday morning, after a Menasha man smashed into the rear of his squad car.

The alleged drunk driver was 33-year-old Charley Campbell.

Officer Wes Bone was stopped at a flashing red light along Main Street and Green Bay Road when he was hit from behind.

Campbell apparently did "poorly" on sobriety tests and was arrested at the scene.  He was cited for OWI and Operating with a Prohibited Alcohol Content.

Campbell claimed he was returning to a bar because he had forgotten something.

The squad car sustained roughly $5,000 in damages.
