UNDATED (WSAU-Wheeler News) Over 140 soldiers from Wisconsin and Minnesota have just come home-for-the-holidays. They were reunited with their families yesterday, at a welcome-home ceremony at Cambridge-Isanti High School in Minnesota.
The troops are from 100 communities in Wisconsin and Minnesota. They spent the last eight months building roads and clearing mines in Afghanistan.
First Sergeant Jeffrey Taylor said his members were often fired upon, or shelled with mortars -- but they only had one serious injury. A soldier had a concussion, after an explosive device went off near his vehicle. Taylor said infantry-and-cavalry troops accompanied his unit, and provided protection.
